What is Soap?
Soap, real soap (not the chemical detergent bars you
mostly get in the store) is made from oil and a strong alkali
solution (lye water). That is it. If you have no Lye or you have no Oil.... Then you have no soap! Anything not made with Lye and Soap is a chemical detergent bar which is a very different set of products.

But isn’t lye soap harsh?
Making soap was, and is, an art, and let’s face it, not every farm wife in the world was an Artist. There was no time or materials to do it over if you got the balance wrong so sometimes, they did the best they could, and dealt with whatever they got. Besides which, modern scales and the production of pure dry lye make the current versions of these time tested wonders turn out just as intended every time.
What makes Gambrell House soap different from the stuff I get at the grocery store?
What makes Grandmas Homemade bread better than the grocery store bread?
Fresh, high quality ingredients, small batch with precision measurements, A "touch" for what works and most important, Love.
Can you get something close to Grandmas Bread at the specialty bakery... yes, but not quite the same even there is it?
Three things make this soap different from your average grocery store product.
First, most of the bar products are “beauty bars” or “body bars” and not soap at all but a chemical detergent cocktail that may or may not really be safe for a lifetime of use.
And for those that are real soap, the following two things differentiate us.
The main thing that we do vastly different from most true soap manufactories is in our production process. We do not take anything out! It is common practice to remove the naturally occurring glycerin from soap to sell separately. This gives them two products to sell from the work of one. And, the glycerin is very valuable. Glycerin is used as the basis for many lotions and other products that correct the
damage done to skin by soap that has had it removed…
Well you see the catch here I hope? We do not remove the glycerin from the soap, where it belongs. And finally, there is our ingredients. Luxurious and exotic oils like Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Grape Seed, Castor, Coconut, Lanolin, and Shea Butter are used in most of our soaps. These oils each have their own set of skin pampering effects to give you the best product for your skin. And for scent? Essential oils are distilled and extracted directly from some of the most useful and aromatic plants in nature and help our products do what they are meant to, even more effectively.

Why pick pure?
There are over 40,000 chemicals, mostly in the personal products and cleaning solutions, on the shelves being sold today, that have had little to no testing regarding their long term health effects or their environmental impact. FDA regulation of new chemicals is minimal. This puts our families your family and our planet at risk..
